Mike Frascogna, Jr.

X.M. (“Mike”) FRASCOGNA, JR. is the senior partner in the law firm of Frascogna Courtney, PLLC which was established in 1972 in Jackson, Mississippi. He has been engaged in an extensive general litigation and transactional practice representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of cases including complex commercial litigation, mass tort litigation, international litigation and business transactions, intellectual property, securities, media rights, music, movie, television and book property rights, trademark, copyrights and issues related to entertainment and sports.

He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit and U.S. District Court, Southern District of Mississippi and all state courts of Mississippi.

Frascogna remains active in alternative dispute resolution, serving on the panel of arbitrators and mediators of the American Arbitration Association. He has arbitrated and mediated foreign and domestic commercial disputes and has served as a Special Master to numerous circuit courts throughout Mississippi.

Frascogna assisted the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a hostage negotiation incident which he brought to a successful conclusion.

Mike served as lead counsel for the Complainant in a case involving several multinational parties which was litigated in the Permanent Court of Arbitration The Hague, Netherlands.

Frascogna served as a Bar Commissioner of the Mississippi State Bar Association from 1994-1997.

Mike is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization that annually gives the GRAMMY® Awards.


Frascogna has been an adjunct Professor of Law at the Mississippi College School of Law since 1978 where he teaches an innovative course in Negotiation to third-year students and an intense survey course in Entertainment Law each summer. He also teaches Entertainment Law as a visiting Adjunct Professor at the Robert C. Khayat School of Law at the University of Mississippi. In addition, Frascogna lectures at CLE seminars on the topics of negotiation, entertainment and sports law. He frequently addresses graduate school classes on negotiating theory and strategy.


Mike has authored numerous books on topics related to negotiation and entertainment law. Two of those books are published by the American Bar Association, and This Business of Artist Management received the coveted ASCAP Deems Taylor Book Award.

In 2007 Mike teamed up with his two sons (Mike, III and Martin) and began producing the first work in what would become a entire line of popular books and movies on Mississippi football.


Mike was recognized by The Recording Academy at the 47th Grammy Awards for his executive producer’s role in the 2004 Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album nomination.

Frascogna was named lawyer of the year in 2013 by the Mississippi College Law School Alumni Association.

Mike was selected as one of the Top Ten Leaders in the Law by The Mississippi Business Journal in 2013.
